October 14, 2026 — The Bristol Hotel, a 187-room hotel on the English city’s harbourside, has been sold to Leonardo Hotels. It will be renamed Leonardo Royal Hotel Bristol and refurbished in phases at a cost of £11.5 million.

What is happening

Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland announced on October 14 that it has bought The Bristol Hotel from The Doyle Collection. The hotel will become the Leonardo Royal Hotel Bristol, the group’s second hotel in Bristol and its tenth Leonardo Royal in the UK. The phased £11.5 million project will update the guest rooms and public spaces. Leonardo has not given a date for completing the sale, the name change or the refurbishment.

Detail Information
Property The Bristol Hotel, becoming Leonardo Royal Hotel Bristol
New owner Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland (part of Fattal Hotels)
Seller The Doyle Collection
Location Harbourside, Bristol, England
Rooms 187
Rebrand date TBA
Refurbishment £11.5 million, in phases; schedule TBA

What guests will find

  • Facilities: Leo’s Bar and Restaurant, a fitness centre, on-site parking, and nine meeting and event spaces that hold up to 400 people.
  • The group: Leonardo runs 63 hotels with more than 13,000 rooms in the UK and Ireland. Its parent, Fattal Hotels, reports 332 hotels in more than 140 destinations.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Getting there: Bristol Airport (BRS) is the city’s airport. The express Flyer bus links it with Bristol Temple Meads station, and taxis wait outside the terminal.
  • Existing bookings: The announcement doesn’t say how current reservations made under The Doyle Collection will be handled during the handover. If you’re booked, confirm directly with the hotel.
  • Refurbishment: The work will be done in phases while the hotel is in use, and no schedule has been released. Ask about any work going on when you book.
  • Rates: Prices weren’t published, and there’s no mention of travel-industry or airline-employee rates.
