October 16, 2026 — Qatar Airways’ latest winter 2026/27 schedule shows 5.7% fewer departures from Doha than it first planned, and three of its U.S. routes lose flights from October 25.
What happened
The schedule Qatar Airways filed on October 11 shows 38,825 one-way departures from Doha for the northern winter season, down from 41,178 in its original March 29 filing. Seats are down 1.4%. Compared with its August 30 filing, though, the latest version adds 575 departures and about 136,000 seats. The report does not give a reason for the changes.
U.S. changes from October 25, 2026
| Route | Change | Aircraft |
|---|---|---|
| New York JFK | 18 to 14 weekly flights | Boeing 777-300ER |
| Seattle | 7 to 5 weekly flights | Boeing 777-300ER |
| Washington Dulles | 10 to 7 weekly flights | Boeing 777-300ER |
| Dallas/Fort Worth | No change in frequency; flight pair QR731/732 moves from the A350-1000 to the 777-200LR | One daily on each type |
Other changes
- Adelaide drops from seven to five weekly flights from December 9, 2026.
- London Heathrow A380 flights fall to 10 weekly from January 11, 2027, and to seven weekly from March 1, 2027.
- Eleven destinations remain cancelled: Cebu, Djibouti, Hamburg, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, Kano, Malta, Mogadishu, Nagpur, NEOM Bay, Sofia and Venice Marco Polo.
- Mashhad, Shiraz and Tehran stay in the schedule, but cannot be booked.
Filed schedules show planned capacity and can still change.
What it means for non-revs
- Fewer flights at JFK, Seattle and Dulles from October 25 means fewer empty seats to Doha from those cities. Expect standby to get harder on those routes, especially on days that lost a flight.
- If you connect through Doha to Asia, Africa or Australia, look at Dallas/Fort Worth, which keeps its two daily flights, or at other U.S. gateways with unchanged schedules.
- The Heathrow A380 cuts in January and March take out a significant number of seats between London and Doha. Plan London–Doha pass trips with that in mind.
- Before you list, check the destination is still operating. Eleven cities remain suspended, and the three Iranian cities cannot be booked.
