October 18, 2026 — Italy’s November strike calendar has filled up. The newest entries include a 23-hour national rail strike from the evening of Friday, November 20, a four-hour national air traffic control strike on Saturday, November 21, and local transport strikes in Venice, Milan, Bari and Naples. Before that, dockworkers in Italy and five other countries plan an international day of action on October 30, the same day as the USB union’s general strike we reported earlier.

Strike dates

Minimum service

The calendar we checked does not list guaranteed services for these dates (TBA). Trenitalia publishes its guaranteed trains on its website, and the calendar advises checking each transport company’s or airport’s official notices before travel.

What it means for airline travelers

  • November 21 is the big day: A national rail strike overlaps with a four-hour nationwide air traffic control strike in the afternoon. Avoid listing for flights in or out of Italy between 13:00 and 17:00 that day if you can, and don’t count on a train to reach the airport.
  • Airport transfers: On local transport strike days in Milan, Venice, Bari and Naples, allow extra time and plan a taxi or private transfer to the airport.
  • October 30: Port strikes could affect ferry connections; check with your ferry operator before travel.
  • Rebooking: Check Trenitalia and Italo for change or refund options if your train falls in a strike window.
