October 18, 2026 — Sandals South Coast, on Jamaica’s quieter southern shore, reopens on November 18, 2026, a week ahead of Thanksgiving. It is the first of three renovated Sandals Jamaica resorts to come back, and it is already taking reservations.

What is happening

Caribbean Journal reported on October 18 that Sandals South Coast will reopen on November 18, one month before Sandals Montego Bay and the renamed Sandals Caribbean Cay. All three are part of Sandals’ “Sandals 2.0” program in Jamaica, which Sandals put at about US$200 million.

The resort has been closed for an extended period. Travel Industry Today reported earlier that Sandals moved South Coast onto a longer improvement timeline after Hurricane Melissa, with a May 30, 2026 target at the time. November 18 is now the confirmed date.

Location South coast of Jamaica
Status Closed for renovation; reopens November 18, 2026; taking reservations now
Rooms 380
Type All-inclusive
Nearest airport Sangster International (MBJ), Montego Bay, roughly 90 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes by road

What is new

  • A refreshed waterfront pool area with greenery and new lounge spaces.
  • A redesigned lobby inspired by the resort’s resident peacocks.
  • Refreshed Overwater Butler Villas and the brand’s first Beachfront Club Two Queen Junior Suites.
  • New dining: BLUM for coffee and pastries, and Butch’s Island Chop House with a martini bar. A rum bar is also planned (opening date TBA).

Booking offer

The resort is part of Sandals’ “Great Jamaica Comeback Sale.” TravelPulse reported up to $1,500 in instant credit and up to $500 in air credit, plus a free excursion for two on stays of five nights or more. Book by November 2, 2026 for travel through December 31, 2028. Savings vary by resort, length of stay and dates.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Allow for the drive: South Coast is the farthest of the three from Sangster International (MBJ), at roughly 90 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. Avoid a tight same-day arrival if your flight lands late.
  • Thanksgiving timing: The November 18 reopening lands just before the Thanksgiving travel rush. If you are flying standby, go early in the week and keep a backup day.
  • First to reopen: As the first of the three to return, South Coast is the option for a late-November Jamaica trip. Expect a short settling-in period for new restaurants and services.
  • Rates: None of the sources mention travel-industry or airline-employee rates.
