October 19, 2026 — La Concha Resort in San Juan’s Condado neighborhood, now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, is building a new beach club and has closed one of its pools for a makeover through December 20, 2026.
What is happening
Caribbean Journal reported on October 18 that the LUXE Azul Beach Club, a beachfront dining and entertainment venue, is under construction and aimed at opening by the end of 2026. The magazine described the date as a target, not a promise. Meanwhile the Sereno Beach Pool is being redone and is listed as closed through December 20, 2026. The main pool and the adults-only Marena pool remain open.
The resort has also started an Art in Residence program with Galería SURCO that puts Puerto Rican contemporary art in selected Executive Corner Suites. The first Art Suite, a one-bedroom in the Ocean Tower, features Carlos Rivera (Carlitos Skillz), with paintings, sculpture, ceramics, video art and a custom mural. Five Art Suites are planned. Guests in an Art Suite receive two tickets to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and can arrange a private gallery visit.

What it means for airline travelers
- Easy airport access. San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International (SJU) is about 5.7 miles from the resort, roughly a 25-minute drive.
- Expect some construction. With a beach club being built and one pool closed through December 20, stays this fall may come with work nearby. If the pool matters to you, book after December 20.
- Marriott Bonvoy: the Autograph Collection affiliation puts the resort in Marriott’s portfolio. The report did not mention points rates or any travel-industry/airline-employee rate.
