October 20, 2026 — MSC Cruises has opened bookings for its 2029 World Cruise, a 119-night round-the-world voyage on MSC Magnifica that leaves Europe in early January 2029 and spends more time in Australia and Indonesia than earlier editions. Parent company: MSC Group.
The voyage
- Ship: MSC Magnifica.
- Length: 119 nights, round trip, visiting 45 destinations in 21 countries.
- Departure: Civitavecchia (Rome) on January 4, 2029. Guests can also board in Genoa, Marseille or Barcelona; those dates are TBA. Return date TBA.
- Overnights (nine in total) include Rio de Janeiro, Ushuaia, Sydney, Singapore and Fremantle/Perth.
- Australia: a full circumnavigation, with new calls at Kangaroo Island, Broome and Darwin.
- Indonesia: longer stays in Bali, Lombok and Java, including a new call at Celukan Bawang in northern Bali.
- Other new ports: Lautoka (Fiji) and Timaru (New Zealand). Milford Sound returns.
What’s included
- 15 shore excursions.
- The Dine & Drink package (house wine, draft beer and select drinks at lunch and dinner).
- 30% off laundry services.
Launch offer: MSC Voyagers Club members at Classic level and above get 5% off, and earn triple loyalty points on world cruise bookings made by November 19, 2026.
What it means for airline travelers
- Choose your boarding port with flights in mind: Rome (FCO), Barcelona (BCN), Marseille (MRS) and Genoa (GOA) all have different transatlantic options. Rome and Barcelona typically have the most.
- Because it is a round trip, you fly in and out of the same European city. Fly in at least a day early in January, when winter weather can disrupt connections, and more than that if you are flying standby.
- Book by November 19 if you are an MSC Voyagers Club member and want the triple points.
- No travel-industry or interline rate changes were mentioned.
