October 25, 2026 — Ryanair’s winter schedule starts today with deep cuts in Germany. The airline drops 12 routes from Berlin Brandenburg (BER), about half its previous Berlin flying, and leaves Bremen entirely.

What happened

The cuts take effect with the winter timetable on Sunday, October 25, dpa reported. Ryanair plans about 700,000 fewer seats in Germany this winter than last, a 10% drop. The airline has long complained about high airport and location fees in Germany, especially at BER.

Berlin routes dropped by Ryanair Still served from BER by
Palermo, Marseille, Trieste, Reggio Calabria, Tallinn, Pisa No nonstop from BER this winter
Gran Canaria easyJet, Eurowings, Sundair
Fuerteventura, Lanzarote easyJet, Eurowings
Bologna Eurowings
Thessaloniki easyJet, Aegean
Vilnius Wizz Air

Elsewhere in Germany

  • Bremen: Ryanair leaves the airport entirely.
  • Hamburg: about 5% fewer flights.
  • Growing: Memmingen and Cologne. Saarbrücken and Friedrichshafen are new Ryanair airports.

Who fills the gap

Eurowings is adding two aircraft at BER, bringing its Berlin fleet to 11. Wizz Air is also growing there. BER says it will offer eight more destinations than last winter, because other airlines are adding flights. Even so, the airport has cut its 2027 forecast to 25–25.2 million passengers, down from as many as 27 million. Airport chief Aletta von Massenbach called Ryanair’s cuts a financial blow.

What it means for non-revs

  • Fewer low-cost seats out of Berlin. With about half of Ryanair’s BER flying gone, expect fuller flights on the carriers that remain on routes like the Canaries, Bologna and Thessaloniki.
  • Lufthansa Group staff: Eurowings’ two extra aircraft at BER and its Canaries and Bologna flights are the in-group options for these sun routes this winter.
  • Six cities lose their nonstop from Berlin: Palermo, Marseille, Trieste, Reggio Calabria, Tallinn and Pisa. Plan connections through a hub instead.
  • Bremen-based travelers lose Ryanair completely and will need to use other airlines or nearby airports.
