October 29, 2026 — Update: JetBlue (B6) CEO Joanna Geraghty says the airline is not negotiating with its creditors and is not considering restructuring its debt. NonRev Travel News covered JetBlue’s third-quarter loss on October 27; this is the new development since then.
What changed
Geraghty told Reuters on Tuesday, October 27: “We are not in talks with our creditors.” AirlineGeeks reported the comments on October 28. They follow a Wall Street Journal report the week before that a group of JetBlue creditors was working with restructuring advisers.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Debt | About $8.4 billion |
| Financing | Management says it is in place through 2027–2028, when positive free cash flow is expected |
| Q3 2026 net loss | $257 million (vs. $143 million a year earlier) |
| Q3 2026 revenue | $2.8 billion (vs. $2.3 billion) |
| Share price | Recovered to $2.84 by midday October 28, after a steep fall since summer; bonds dropped sharply earlier in October |
| Last full-year net profit | 2019 |
Geraghty acknowledged the balance sheet needs repair but said JetBlue is sticking with its JetForward plan. Management pointed to higher revenue and yields, growth at Fort Lauderdale, and the launch of BlueFirst, its new domestic first-class cabin, in December. The first BlueFirst revenue flight is scheduled for December 8 from Boston to Fort Lauderdale, according to Airways Magazine.
What it means for non-revs
- Nothing changes at the airport. JetBlue is flying its normal schedule, and the CEO’s statement rules out a restructuring for now.
- Still worth watching. With about $8.4 billion of debt and no annual profit since 2019, JetBlue’s finances remain a story to follow. A real restructuring would come with formal filings and announcements, not quiet schedule changes.
- Fort Lauderdale remains the bright spot. JetBlue plans more than 150 peak daily departures from FLL this winter, which means the most frequencies and the most chances to get on.
