October 30, 2026 — American Airlines is reopening the private dining room inside its Flagship Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The room has been closed since March 2020. It is now called Flagship Dining, and more passengers can use it.
What happened
Live and Let’s Fly reported on October 30 that, according to an American spokesperson quoted by View from the Wing, the dining room in Terminal 4 will reopen next week. The exact date is TBA. That is earlier than the late-2026 return American had announced before. The main Flagship Lounge stayed open throughout. Only the separate dining room was closed.
- New name: Flagship First Dining is now just Flagship Dining.
- Wider access: qualifying Flagship Business passengers can now use it, not just Flagship First. American made the same change at its Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Miami (MIA) dining rooms on September 15, 2026.
- Qualifying LAX flights: eligible Flagship service to New York JFK and some Boston and Miami flights operated with lie-flat seats.
- Not included: regular domestic first class. Elite status alone does not get economy passengers into the dining room.
- Menu: a seasonal four-course menu, paired with KHK Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon and K+M chocolate.
- Tables are first come, first served, with an electronic waitlist when the room is full.
What it means for non-revs
- Access depends on your ticket. The dining room is for passengers ticketed in qualifying Flagship cabins on qualifying routes. The reports don’t mention staff travel, so check American’s pass-travel lounge rules before you count on a table.
- It won’t change loads. This is a ground-side product change, so it does not affect seat availability on the LAX–JFK, Boston or Miami flights.
- Arrive early if you’re eligible. Seats are limited and there is a waitlist, so leave time before boarding.
