November 2, 2026 — Carnival Spirit is back in Mobile, Alabama, for its 2026–27 winter season after a summer in Alaska. It is the ship’s last scheduled winter there: Carnival Valor arrives in mid-May 2027 to start a year-round Carnival program from Mobile.

The winter season

Spirit’s first sailing back in Mobile is a 7-night Bahamas and Florida cruise calling at Key West, Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key. A highlight of the winter schedule is a 14-night round trip from Mobile departing January 17, 2027, to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean, with calls including Turks & Caicos, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Aruba, Curaçao and Jamaica.

The ship’s 15-day repositioning voyage from Seattle had a rough run. A delayed departure from Seattle, caused by technical problems and weather, cost the ship its Cabo San Lucas call, and Hurricane Trudy forced it to skip Puntarenas, Costa Rica, leaving just one port of call.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Mobile is a smaller airline market than Florida’s big cruise ports, with fewer flights and seats. If you are flying standby, plan to arrive the day before and have a backup such as flying into a nearby larger airport and driving.
  • Spirit’s rough repositioning is a reminder that schedules slip. Don’t book a tight same-day flight home on debarkation day.
  • Year-round sailings from Mobile on Valor from mid-May 2027 mean more options for Gulf Coast cruisers outside the winter months.
  • Want Alaska on Spirit next summer? It sails from Seattle after its April 2027 repositioning.
  • No changes to travel-industry or interline rates were mentioned.
