November 4, 2026 — IndiGo is in early-stage talks with Embraer about 100 regional jets plus options for about 50 more, according to a Reuters report cited by Aviation A2Z. The deal is not final.

Airline: IndiGo (6E) · India

What happened

Citing Reuters and three people familiar with the matter, Aviation A2Z reported on November 4, 2026 that IndiGo is negotiating with Embraer for 100 regional jets, with options for around 50 more. The model, final quantity and terms are still open, and the article stresses the deal is not guaranteed. Options under discussion include the E175 (up to 88 seats), E190-E2 (up to 114) and E195-E2 (up to 146). Deliveries would likely start in or after 2030. Signing date: TBA.

IndiGo had 442 aircraft at September 30, 2026, including 44 ATR 72-600s, and around 900 more on order, mostly from Airbus. The article also says IndiGo planned to end its damp-leased Boeing 787-9 operations, flown with Norse Atlantic aircraft, in late October 2026.

IndiGo fleet type (Sept 30, 2026) Aircraft
A320ceo 26
A320neo 174
A321neo 186
A321XLR 4
ATR 72-600 44
A321 freighter 3
Boeing 787-9 (damp-leased) 5

What it means for non-revs

  • There is no short-term effect: any Embraer jets would arrive in 2030 or later.
  • In the long run, a jet between the ATR 72-600 turboprop and the A320 could bring more frequent flights on thinner Indian routes, which tends to help standby and ZED travelers.
  • If you have used IndiGo’s 787 long-haul flights for interline travel, check what is operating now. The source says those damp-leased flights were planned to end in late October 2026.
