November 5, 2026 — Update: Carnival Cruise Line is moving departure times 30 minutes earlier on 93 more sailings, this time on Carnival Liberty from New Orleans and Carnival Splendor from Sydney. Together with the 153 Carnival Elation and Carnival Glory sailings changed earlier, 246 cruises are now affected.

What changed

Carnival is sending letters to booked guests. The new times apply to sailings from December 2026 through November 2027. Carnival has not given a reason. Port times and return times are not changing.

Ship Homeport Sailings New departure Dates
Carnival Liberty New Orleans 47 3:00 p.m. (was 3:30 p.m.) January 3, 2027 through November 20, 2027
Carnival Splendor Sydney 46 3:00 p.m. (was 3:30 p.m.) December 8, 2026 through November 23, 2027 (no changes in August 2027 during dry dock)

Carnival Liberty‘s sailings call at ports including Key West, Celebration Key, Nassau, Belize, Cozumel, Montego Bay and Grand Cayman. Carnival Splendor‘s July 31, 2027 departure, its last before dry dock, keeps the 3:30 p.m. time. No refunds or credits are being offered, and guests who arrive late may be denied boarding.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Half an hour less slack. All-aboard moves up too, so a same-day flight into New Orleans (MSY) or Sydney (SYD) that used to be “just enough” may no longer work.
  • Fly in the day before. This matters most if you are flying standby, where one full flight can push you past the cutoff.
  • Return flights are unchanged. Arrival times back in port stay the same, so your trip home is not affected.
  • Check your letter. Confirm the new time on your booking, and tell anyone traveling with you on a separate reservation.
  • Rates. The report did not mention travel-industry or interline rates.
