November 5, 2026 — Update: TUI Cruises has cancelled Mein Schiff 3‘s November 14–28 cruise because repairs from last month’s collision in Bremerhaven will take longer than planned. The ship is now expected back in service on November 28.

What changed

Mein Schiff 3 was damaged in a collision in Bremerhaven, Germany, on October 25. It reached the Lloyd Werft shipyard pier in Bremerhaven on November 1 for inspection and repairs. In an update on November 5, the line said the work needs more time and the two-week November 14–28 sailing will not go ahead. TUI said, “We know how much our guests were looking forward to this trip.”

German authorities have classed the incident as a “serious casualty,” the second-highest of five severity levels. The full extent of the damage has not been made public.

Compensation details for guests on the cancelled sailing were not given in the report (TBA).

What it means for airline travelers

  • Booked November 14? Contact TUI Cruises or your travel agent about a refund or rebooking, and change or cancel flights to Germany as soon as you can.
  • Booked November 28? The return date is a plan, not a guarantee. Keep your flight flexible until TUI confirms the ship is ready.
  • Airports. Bremen (BRE) and Hamburg (HAM) are the usual gateways for Bremerhaven; Hamburg is the closest major airport for Kiel. If you are flying standby to Germany, go a day early, since connections to Bremen are limited.
  • Open-jaw note. The November 28 sailing ends in Kiel, not Bremerhaven, so book the trip home from Hamburg.
  • Rates. The report did not mention travel-industry or interline rates.
