November 6, 2026 — The U.S. Consulate General in Frankfurt has warned of a march, rally and counter-demonstrations in central Frankfurt on Saturday, November 7, and has told its own staff to stay away from the areas involved because of the potential for violence.

What is planned

  • Events: An Iranian Freedom Award ceremony, a pro-Pahlavi march and rally, and counter-demonstrations.
  • Where: The Paulskirche, Roßmarkt and Ostpark areas of Frankfurt am Main, and the march route (details of the route were not published).
  • When: Saturday, November 7. Times: TBA.
  • Advisory level: The U.S. rates Germany at Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution, due to terrorism. No change was announced.

What it means for airline travelers

  • If you are overnighting in Frankfurt on Saturday, avoid the old town around the Paulskirche and Roßmarkt, and the Ostpark area in the east of the city.
  • Expect road closures and detours; allow extra time if you are crossing the city to get to Frankfurt Airport.
  • The consulate advises keeping a low profile, watching local media and following police instructions. German emergency numbers are 110 (police) and 112 (fire and ambulance). The consulate can be reached at +49-69-7535-0.
  • Enroll in STEP (U.S. citizens) or Registration of Canadians Abroad.
