November 7, 2026 — Costa Cruises has signed a 10-year fly-and-cruise partnership with Central Romana Corporation for La Romana in the Dominican Republic, making the port a long-term Caribbean base for the Italian line.
What was announced
The deal was signed at an industry event in London, with Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado present. The exact signing date was not published. Central Romana also has a separate 10-year agreement with AIDA Cruises, which was reported earlier this week. Costa’s Daniel Caprile said the agreement gives the two companies’ long cooperation “a stable framework.”
Costa Fascinosa sails from La Romana in the 2026–27 season on two one-week itineraries, which can be combined into a two-week cruise:
| Itinerary | Ports |
|---|---|
| Antilles Collection (1 week) | Barbados, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Guadeloupe, Tortola |
| Caribbean Heart (1 week) | Catalina Island, Cabo Rojo, Samaná, Turks & Caicos |
What it means for airline travelers
- The point is flying in. The deal is built around fly-and-cruise trips, so travelers are expected to fly into the Dominican Republic and start the cruise in La Romana. Check how you get from your arrival airport to the La Romana terminal before you book.
- Fly in a day early. Caribbean flights can be full in high season, so arrive the day before sailing, and especially if you are flying standby.
- Two weeks is an option. Combining both itineraries means one round-trip flight for 14 nights at sea.
- No travel-industry or interline rate was mentioned.
