CHIȘINĂU, Nov. 7, 2026 — Polaris Airlines, a new ultra-low-cost carrier based in Moldova, has started flying from Chișinău, starting with Istanbul and adding six European cities this month.
The launch
- The first route, Chișinău–Istanbul, opened on Nov. 5, 2026 and will build to daily service by December.
- Next starts, all three times a week: Bologna, Prague and Verona from Nov. 18; Milan Malpensa from Nov. 19; Rome Fiumicino from Nov. 20; and Dublin from Nov. 21.
- The model is point-to-point, with low base fares and paid extras. It targets Moldova’s diaspora and leisure travelers.
- Its main competitors are Wizz Air and HiSky.
- Fleet size, aircraft type, ownership and the airline’s IATA code were not stated in the launch report (TBA).
What it means for non-revs
No interline or staff-travel agreements have been announced. For airline people, the launch adds competition in an Eastern European market where Wizz Air is the main low-cost player.
