October 1, 2026 — Barcelona’s city buses face partial strikes on seven days in October. Separately, the Galician port city of Vigo started charging an overnight tourist tax on October 1.
Barcelona: TMB bus strikes
- Status: confirmed after staff rejected a pre-agreement. The CGT and UGT unions are behind the action.
- Dates: October 8, 14, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29.
- Stoppage times each strike day: 09:00–11:00, 19:00–21:00 and 23:00–01:00.
- Minimum services: not yet published (TBA).
Vigo: tourist tax from October 1
| Accommodation | Per person, per night |
|---|---|
| 5-star hotel | €2.00 |
| 3–4-star hotel | €1.60 |
| 1–2-star hotel | €1.20 |
| Hostels, campsites, apartments, rural lodging | €0.80 |
- How many nights are charged: only the first two nights until June 30, 2027. From July 1, 2027, up to five nights are charged.
- Cruise passengers: will pay €1.20 from July 1, 2027.
- Exempt: minors, among others.
What it means for airline travelers
- Getting from El Prat on a strike day: the stoppage windows are the same on every strike date. Use Rodalies R2 Nord trains, the L9 Sud metro or a taxi instead of TMB buses.
- Late arrivals: if your flight lands in the evening, the 23:00–01:00 stoppage may cut night bus service. Plan accordingly.
- Vigo: expect the tax to be added at check-in or on your hotel bill.
