October 1, 2026 — A new fee schedule for services at Cuba’s consulates abroad takes effect today. It sets the price of the tourist card Americans need to enter Cuba, along with passport fees that matter to Cuban-born employees and their families.

The details

  • Legal basis: Cuba’s Foreign Ministry (MINREX) issued Resolution 37/2026. It was published in the Official Gazette on September 30 and takes effect October 1, 2026. Fees are charged in US dollars or euros at Cuban missions abroad.
  • Tourist card: $50 when sold in the United States, according to both Infobae and CubaHeadlines. Infobae lists $30 in most other countries. CubaHeadlines reports $25 when bought through agencies or airlines. The two reports don’t agree on that figure.
  • Tourist visa: $75 plus a $30 processing fee (Infobae).
  • Cuban passports issued abroad: $200 for an adult 10-year passport, $160 for under-16s and $120 for a provisional passport.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Buy your tourist card before you head to the gate. Standby travelers can’t sort it out at boarding. Ask your airline or agency what it charges, because resale prices can differ from the consular fee.
  • Cuban-born travelers: check your Cuban passport’s validity and renewal cost under the new schedule before you book.
  • US-specific rules still apply. US travelers must still meet US government rules for travel to Cuba, and should read the State Department’s Cuba page before going.
