October 3, 2026 — Update to our October 2 story. Vy updated its strike pages on Friday. From Monday, October 5, when 21 more drivers walk out, the R14 Asker–Kongsvinger line will see nearly all trains cancelled. Yesterday we reported full cancellations there from October 6.

What changed

  • Scale: the drivers’ union Norsk Lokomotivmannsforbund will have 72 drivers on strike from October 5.
  • R14 Asker–Kongsvinger: close to 100% cancelled from October 5.
  • RE10 Drammen–Lillehammer: 65% to 72% of trains cancelled. This line serves Oslo Airport.
  • Other lines: L1, L2, R13, R21, R22 and R23 are partly affected. Western Norway is barely touched.
  • Oslo–Gothenburg (RE20): several cancellations on October 5–7. No Vy trains run on October 3–4 because of track works.
  • Flytoget airport express: largely unaffected, with two drivers on strike (VG).
  • No replacement buses run during the strike. Vy’s own travel guarantee does not apply, but legal rail passenger rights to refunds and compensation do.
  • No new talks or settlement were reported.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Oslo Airport: use Flytoget or the airport bus. Do not count on Vy regional trains.
  • Check two days ahead: Vy updates its journey planner about two days before travel.
  • To Sweden: cancelled Vy trains to Gothenburg are refunded in full, whatever the ticket type.
  • Standby travelers: allow extra time to reach the airport, especially from Kongsvinger, Lillehammer or Drammen.
