October 6, 2026 — Update to our October 5 story. Corsica Linea ferries were due to sail again on Tuesday after a week without service. In Paris, several metro stations closed from 10 am for the student and education march.
Corsica ferries
- Sailings resume October 6: Owner consortium CM Holding announced the restart on Monday evening after meeting four unions. It reported positive or constructive responses from all but one.
- Background: The CGT and STC unions struck from September 29 over the chartering of a vessel, which they say threatens about 90 jobs. The strike ended on October 2–3, but the owners then kept the ships in port.
- Not settled: Management wants to renegotiate two company agreements, so the dispute could return. No new strike date is set (TBA).
- Rebooking: We found no rebooking terms published by the company. Contact Corsica Linea directly about cancelled crossings.
Paris on October 6
- The march: From Place de la République at 2 pm, along Boulevard Voltaire to Place de la Nation. Marches were also planned in Lyon, Strasbourg and Toulouse.
- Stations closed from 10 am until police allow reopening: Oberkampf and Richard-Lenoir on line 5, and Oberkampf, Saint-Ambroise, Voltaire, Charonne and Rue des Boulets on line 9. Buses in the area were diverted.
- Tram T3b is listed as disrupted by a labor action all week, October 5–9.
- Turnout and any new protest date were not confirmed in the reports we could open (TBA).
Still ahead
- No new SNCF, RATP or air traffic control strike notice was found today.
- A national strike notice by pilot and cabin crew unions at French airlines for October 17–21 remains in place. No cancellation figures are confirmed yet.
What it means for airline travelers
- Corsica: Confirm your sailing with Corsica Linea before going to the port. The first days after a stoppage are busy, and schedules may be adjusted.
- Paris on march days: Use metro lines away from the République–Nation corridor, and expect stations to reopen only in the evening. Airport trains were not reported affected.
- October 17–21: If you plan to fly standby to, from or within France on those dates, watch for cancellation lists. The dates fall at the start of the autumn school holidays, when loads are already heavy.
- Keep plans flexible and hold a refundable hotel night in case a ferry or flight does not operate.
