October 11, 2026 — Princess Cruises’ newest ship, Star Princess, has finished its first Alaska season and moved to Fort Lauderdale for a winter of week-long Caribbean cruises. Separately, the line’s package price increase takes effect for cruises departing from Tuesday, October 13.

Star Princess: Alaska to the Caribbean

Period Homeport Program
Early May to late September 2026 Seattle 20 round-trip Alaska cruises calling at Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan
Early October 2026 Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale 16-night Panama Canal repositioning cruise. Exact dates: TBA
Winter 2026–27, through April 2027 Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) Week-long Caribbean cruises. First departure date: TBA
From April 2027 TBA Repositioning cruise ahead of a second Alaska summer

Cruise Industry News reports the repositioning cruise was scheduled to call at Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Panama City and Oranjestad, with a full canal transit. The 175,500-ton, 4,000-guest ship was delivered in late 2025 and is the largest in the Princess fleet. Princess Cruises is part of Carnival Corporation.

Reminder: package prices rise October 13

  • Princess Plus and Princess Premier each go up $5 per person, per day, for cruises departing on or after October 13, as Cruise Radio reported on September 28.
  • New pre-cruise prices: Plus $70 and Premier $105 per day. On Sun Princess and Star Princess they are $75 and $110.
  • The stand-alone four-device Wi-Fi plan ends. A new two-device plan costs $39.99 a day when bought before the cruise.
  • Whether packages already purchased keep the old price: TBA. Ask Princess or your agent.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Port Everglades is a few miles from Fort Lauderdale (FLL). Miami (MIA) is a workable backup, and Palm Beach (PBI) is a third option when loads are tight.
  • Flying standby to a Saturday or Sunday departure in winter? South Florida flights fill with cruise passengers. Arrive the day before.
  • Round-trip week-long cruises keep your flights simple: one airport both ways.
  • Interline cruise rates usually cover the fare only. Add the higher package price to your budget if you buy Plus or Premier.
  • No new interline or travel-industry rates were announced.
