MANZANILLO, Mexico, October 13, 2026 — Update to our October 12 story. Manzanillo’s Playa de Oro International Airport (ZLO) resumed operations at 8 a.m. local time on Monday, October 12, after Hurricane Simon closed it from Saturday evening through Sunday, Rus Tourism News reports.
What changed since Monday
- Reopened on time: the airport resumed operations at the 8 a.m. Monday time that operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) had set on Sunday night.
- Schedules still recovering: airlines may need extra time to restore normal schedules after moving aircraft and crews away for the storm, Rus Tourism News notes. Which flights are operating: check with your airline.
- Damage: no damage to the airport has been reported in our sources.
What it means for non-revs
- Expect full flights out for a few days. All of Sunday’s flights were cancelled, and those passengers are being rebooked first.
- Confirm your flight before you go. Airline schedules may lag behind the airport reopening.
- Keep an eye on the weather. Simon is still bringing heavy rain to parts of west-central Mexico.
