October 14, 2026 — SNCF says no rail strike notice has been filed for Saturday, October 17, the first day of the All Saints’ (Toussaint) school holidays, and the national airline crew strike for October 17–21 remains suspended. Protests are still possible on Saturday, and unions have set a nationwide strike day for Thursday, November 5.
Saturday, October 17
- Trains: SNCF Voyageurs told Sortiraparis that no strike notice and no disruption had been announced for October 17, though this could change. Yesterday’s report noted SUD-Rail was considering action that day; no notice has followed so far.
- Flights: The pilot and cabin crew unions’ five-day national strike notice (October 17–21) is still suspended after talks with the government. Unions say they could revive it if a promised decree is delayed. The civil aviation authority, DGAC, plans to give an update 24 to 48 hours before Saturday.
- Protests: High-school students and Gilets jaunes groups have talked of protesting on Saturday. No Paris march route had been declared as of October 13 (TBA).
Thursday, October 15: Lyon buses
The CGT, UNSA and CFDT unions at Keolis Bus Lyon have called a strike on the TCL bus and trolleybus network, over pay and working conditions. Which lines will run is TBA; Lyon’s metro and trams are not part of the call.
Thursday, November 5: national strike
Five union federations (CFDT, CGT, FO, UNSA and FSU) have called a strike and demonstrations across the public and private sectors against the 2027 budget. RATP and SNCF strike notices have not yet been filed (TBA); transport workers must declare 48 hours ahead, and operators usually publish service forecasts the day before.
What it means for airline travelers
- Saturday is a heavy holiday getaway day. Even without strikes, flights and TGVs will be full; standby options out of Paris will be tight.
- Check your flight and any SNCF booking again on Thursday or Friday, when the DGAC and SNCF give their final word.
- Arriving in Lyon on Thursday? Rhônexpress and the metro/tram network are not named in the bus strike, but expect crowding if buses are cut.
- Avoid planning tight rail or airport connections on November 5, and check SNCF Connect and RATP forecasts on November 4.
