October 17, 2026 — Royal Caribbean has dropped Bermuda from Vision of the Seas’ five-night cruise leaving Baltimore today, sending the ship to Saint John, New Brunswick, instead. Guests learned of the change late on Friday, October 16, and they will not be allowed to go ashore in Canada.
What changed
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Ship | Vision of the Seas |
| Sailing | 5 nights, departing Baltimore, Maryland, Saturday, October 17, 2026 |
| Dropped | Bermuda |
| New call | Saint John, New Brunswick — overnight from 6:30 p.m. Monday, October 19, to 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 20 |
| Going ashore | Not permitted, per Royal Caribbean’s email; no reason was given |
Saint John is the only port on the revised route, which makes the trip a cruise to nowhere in practice. Cruise Hive notes the shops and the Deck 5 casino will probably be closed while the ship is alongside.
Why
Royal Caribbean blamed poor weather near Bermuda, telling guests it could not offer “a safe and comfortable journey to Bermuda.” A National Weather Service warning cited by Cruise Hive describes a strong cold front 100 to 250 nautical miles offshore along the route, with winds forecast to hit 50 knots on Saturday night and swells as high as 22 feet. The warning runs through Wednesday night.
Compensation
Each stateroom receives non-refundable onboard credit:
- Inside and oceanview: $75
- Balcony: $150
- Suites: $200
- $25 more for each guest beyond the first two
Bermuda shore excursions bought in advance are cancelled and refunded to the onboard account; any unused balance goes back to the card on file at the end of the cruise.
What it means for airline travelers
- The cruise still sails and returns to Baltimore, so return flights booked out of BWI after the five nights do not need to change.
- Do not pack for a day in Canada. No one may go ashore in Saint John, so you will not need to plan around Canadian entry on this trip.
- Expect rough seas. The forecast calls for gale-force winds and big swells on the route through mid-week; bring motion-sickness remedies.
- Booked a later Bermuda sailing from Baltimore? Check the Royal Caribbean app before you fly in; the weather warning runs through Wednesday night. Arriving the day before embarkation is still the safer plan, especially on standby.
- No change to interline or travel-industry cruise rates was mentioned.
