LONDON, United Kingdom, October 17, 2026 — There is no London Underground Piccadilly line service to or from Heathrow (LHR) this weekend because of planned engineering works. Flights are operating normally, but getting to the airport by rail will take more planning, especially on Sunday.
What is happening
- Piccadilly line: No trains to or from Heathrow on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, and no Night Tube service on Friday, October 16. The closure runs between Hammersmith and Heathrow (all terminals), and also between Hammersmith and Uxbridge. Normal service is expected on Monday, October 19.
- Alternatives: Heathrow says the Heathrow Express, Elizabeth line, replacement buses and local buses are running and will be busier than usual.
- Sunday reductions reported: Rus Tourism News reports Elizabeth line engineering works between Paddington and Ealing Broadway on Sunday, October 18, cutting Terminal 4 trains to two an hour with fewer trains to Terminals 2 and 3. It also reports Heathrow Express running every 30 minutes instead of every 15 between Paddington and Terminal 5 from about 9:40 a.m. to 10:40 p.m. on Sunday. Heathrow’s own notice says these services run as normal, so check before you travel.
- Airport operations: Heathrow is open and flights are running as scheduled.
What it means for non-revs
- Budget more time to reach Heathrow, particularly if you normally ride the Piccadilly line in from central London or west London. Replacement buses are slower, and remaining rail links will be crowded.
- Check that your train serves your terminal. Some Terminal 2/3 and Terminal 4 connections may need a change of train on Sunday.
- Commuting crew and staff: plan your Saturday and Sunday journeys to work in advance; the Piccadilly line is also closed west of Hammersmith toward Uxbridge.
- Arriving passengers heading into London should use the Elizabeth line or Heathrow Express rather than waiting for Piccadilly line replacement buses.
