October 19, 2026 — Jamaica’s first casino is set to open in February 2027 inside the Princess Grand Jamaica resort at Green Island, Hanover, giving the island’s western resort strip a brand-new draw for visitors.
What is happening
The Sunday Gleaner reported on October 18 that Adamas Grand Casino Jamaica is scheduled to open in February 2027. Adamas Grand Casino Limited was the first company to receive a casino gaming operator’s licence from Jamaica’s Casino Gaming Commission, granted earlier in 2026. It will run the casino under a management agreement with Grupo Orenes, a Spanish gaming and hospitality company with operations in Spain, Mexico and Andorra. Manuel Clavel is the architect.
Under Jamaica’s Casino Gaming Act of 2010, casinos are only allowed as part of integrated resort developments, not as standalone businesses. Before opening, the operator still has to meet conditions covering surveillance and security, responsible gaming, anti-money laundering, player protection and connection to the Commission’s gaming management system. The Gleaner said the previous deadline for those conditions was March 2027.

Part of a larger Princess investment
The casino is part of roughly US$400 million that Princess Hotels and Resorts has invested in Hanover, which also covers Princess Grand Jamaica and the adults-only Princess Senses The Mangrove. The Gleaner noted that The Mangrove recently won Caribbean awards for leading adult-only all-inclusive, water villa and wedding resort, and that its Robert’s Flame restaurant was named Jamaica’s best hotel restaurant at the World Culinary Awards.
What it means for airline travelers
- Fly into Montego Bay (MBJ). The Princess resorts at Green Island are roughly a 75-minute transfer west of Sangster International Airport, so plan your arrival day around that drive.
- Nothing changes for current guests yet. The casino is not open, and the reports describe no construction effect on stays at Princess Grand Jamaica or Princess Senses The Mangrove.
- Opening date can still move. February 2027 depends on the operator meeting its licence conditions, so do not plan a trip only around casino night until it is confirmed open.
- Rates: no prices or travel-industry/airline-employee rates were mentioned in the sources.
