October 26, 2026 — IndiGo will start international flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) in February 2027 and shift 12 international destinations there from Mumbai’s main airport by July 2027, under a phased plan announced on Sunday.

What happened

IndiGo and Air India Group both agreed on Sunday, October 25, to move part of their Mumbai operations from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to NMIA, Skift reports. For IndiGo:

Item Detail
International flights from NMIA begin February 2027 (exact date TBA)
Transfer completed By July 2027
Destinations moving (12) Bahrain, Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Kuwait City, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat, Dhaka, Jakarta and a daily Kathmandu service
Domestic Some domestic flights will also move to feed connections (which ones: TBA)

The network that moves is weighted heavily toward the Gulf. The gradual schedule replaces Adani’s earlier plan to strip 265 of Terminal 2’s 770 weekly international slots from October 25, which would have affected 46 airlines. After the government stepped in, winter slots were left untouched and the shift was spread through the summer 2027 schedule.

Separately, IndiGo’s Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah flights are cancelled until October 31 because of the security situation in Saudi Arabia, according to The National.

What it means for non-revs

  • Know your Mumbai airport. From February 2027, IndiGo flights to these 12 destinations will progressively leave from NMIA instead of CSMIA. Check the departure airport every time you list or book.
  • Connections may change. IndiGo is moving some domestic flights to NMIA to feed the international services. Until the domestic list is published (TBA), do not assume an onward domestic flight will be at the same airport.
  • No change this winter. The current winter schedule at CSMIA is unaffected by the move.
  • Saudi flights are off until at least October 31. Recheck before planning any IndiGo trip to Saudi Arabia.
