November 6, 2026 — The U.S. Embassy in Poland has warned of marches and demonstrations in Warsaw around Polish Independence Day on Wednesday, November 11, with significant road closures and public transport delays expected.

The embassy says most offices and shops will be closed for the November 11 national holiday, that past years have seen “some isolated incidents,” and that police presence may be increased. The U.S. rates Poland at Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions; no change was announced.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Avoid central Warsaw on the afternoon of November 11, especially Aleje Jerozolimskie, the Poniatowski Bridge, the area around the stadium and Aleje Ujazdowskie. If you are heading to Chopin Airport that afternoon, leave early and avoid routes through the center.
  • Expect road closures, parking problems and transit delays. Shops and many services will be closed on the holiday, so plan meals and errands ahead.
  • The embassy advises avoiding crowds, keeping a low profile and following local media. In an emergency, call 112; the embassy’s emergency line is +48 22 504 2000.
  • Enroll in STEP (U.S. citizens) or Registration of Canadians Abroad.
