October 6, 2026 — Disney has pushed back the end of the refurbishment at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and BoardWalk Villas at Walt Disney World. Work that was due to finish in late 2026 will now continue through 2027.

WDW News Today reported the change on October 5, citing Disney’s updated refurbishment notices. Disney Food Blog reported the same extension on October 4. The resort stays open throughout.

What is closing, and when

Area Status
Rooms and select resort areas Refurbishment extended from late 2026 through 2027; exact end date TBA
Luna Park Pool (the feature pool) Closed January 11 to April 2027; reopening day TBA
Luna Park Crazy Play Area Closed January 11 to April 2027
Leaping Horse Libations pool bar Closed January 11 to April 2027
Villas Pool and Inn Pool Stay open
Lobby and Village Green Already finished

Guests may see and hear construction during the day. Disney Food Blog also reports that the Disney Skyliner gondola will close from January 24 to 30, 2027. That affects hotels in the EPCOT area, with buses, boats and walking routes as alternatives.

The same notices extend work at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Exterior work on the Hospitality House, due to end in mid-September 2026, now runs through fall 2026.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Booked BoardWalk for January to April 2027? The main pool, its play area and the pool bar will be closed. Two smaller pools stay open. If the feature pool matters to your family, ask Disney about moving to another resort.
  • Ask for a room away from the work. Daytime noise is possible all through 2027. Request a quiet location when you book and again at check-in.
  • Late January is a double hit. The Skyliner closure from January 24 to 30 overlaps the pool closure.
  • The resort is not closing. Guests can still book and stay during the work.
  • Getting there: Walt Disney World is served by Orlando International Airport (MCO).
