October 9, 2026 — Scenic Group has opened early access to its 2028 Europe river cruises and land journeys, with a reworked South of France cruise for Scenic and a new 10-night Danube route for Emerald Cruises.

Yesterday’s edition covered Scenic Group’s new chief commercial officer. This is a separate announcement, reported by Cruise Industry News on October 8.

Elisabeth Sadler, vice president of river cruising product, said the company reworked popular itineraries “to provide longer stays.” Scenic Group owns both the Scenic and Emerald brands.

Scenic: what is new for 2028

Program Length Details

Monte-Carlo & French Riviera extension 4 days Stay at Fairmont Monte-Carlo; touring to Èze or Menton
Grand Castles of the Loire 5 days Pairs with Seine and Bordeaux cruises
Brittany Discovery 4 days Pairs with Seine cruises; Mont-Saint-Michel or Saint-Malo
Munich extension 3 days Connects via Regensburg on selected Gems of the Danube departures

Emerald Cruises: Danube Capitals & Crossroads

  • Route: 10 nights from Passau, Germany, to Belgrade, Serbia.
  • Ports: Passau, the Wachau Valley, Vienna, Bratislava, Esztergom, Budapest, Novi Sad and Belgrade.
  • Overnights: Vienna and Budapest.
  • Departures: select sailings in March, April and August 2028. Exact dates: TBA.

Prices, ship assignments, early-access terms and the general on-sale date: TBA in the report.

What it means for airline travelers

  • The Emerald route is open-jaw. Munich (MUC) is the usual gateway for Passau, and you fly home from Belgrade (BEG). Check that your pass agreements cover both ends.
  • South of France: Lyon (LYS) serves one end and Marseille (MRS) is the nearest large airport to Tarascon. Direction matters, so confirm which way your departure sails.
  • Extensions change your flight city. The Riviera add-on points you to Nice (NCE) and the Munich add-on to MUC.
  • Arrive a day early. River ships do not wait. March and April loads are lighter for standby than August.
  • Interline rates: the announcement mentions no travel-industry pricing. Ask your agent whether early access applies to industry fares.
