October 10, 2026 — Carnival Cruise Line pushed back today’s boarding for Carnival Dream in Galveston by two hours after Hurricane Isaias delayed the ship’s return. Two New Orleans ships had their Cozumel hours trimmed, and Carnival is watching four more ships for possible turnaround changes.
Update: yesterday’s story covered Carnival Radiance dropping Cabo San Lucas and said Gulf sailings were unchanged. The Carnival Dream delay and the Cozumel time changes are new.
What changed
| Ship | Sailing | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Carnival Dream | October 10, seven nights from Galveston | Terminal arrival appointments moved two hours later. Everyone must check in by 4:00 p.m. CT. |
| Carnival Liberty | October 4, seven nights from New Orleans | Cozumel on October 9 ran 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. instead of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Carnival Valor | October 8 from New Orleans | Cozumel arrival moved from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and departure from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. Call date: TBA. |
| Carnival Radiance | October 3, eight nights from Long Beach | Cabo San Lucas dropped October 9 (reported yesterday). Due back in Long Beach October 11 as planned. |
Carnival Dream ran late coming back from its October 3 cruise because of Isaias. As an example of the new timing, a 10:00–10:30 a.m. appointment becomes 12:00–12:30 p.m. The cruise is scheduled to visit Key West, Celebration Key and Nassau.
Ships on watch
- Carnival says it is monitoring Carnival Breeze, Carnival Dream, Carnival Jubilee and Carnival Panorama for possible turnaround changes. Nothing further has been announced.
- Carnival Valor, Carnival Firenze and Carnival Paradise left their homeports as scheduled.
- Homeports Carnival is watching: Galveston, New Orleans, Tampa and Long Beach. None has been closed to Carnival sailings.
Isaias itself is fading. The National Hurricane Center issued its last advisory at 4 a.m. CDT today with the system inland as a post-tropical cyclone with 35 mph winds. On the Pacific side, Hurricane Simon is now a Category 4 storm near Manzanillo, which is why Carnival Panorama stays on the watch list.
The reports mention no compensation for the time changes. Carnival said its ships “will always maintain a safe distance from the storms.”
What it means for airline travelers
- Sailing on Carnival Dream today: add two hours to your arrival appointment, and be checked in by 4:00 p.m. CT. A later boarding gives same-day flyers into Houston Hobby (HOU) or Bush Intercontinental (IAH) more margin, but allow for the drive to Galveston.
- Flying standby to a Gulf homeport: arrive the day before. Flights cancelled during Isaias mean fuller planes into Houston, New Orleans (MSY) and Tampa (TPA) this weekend.
- Coming home: a late-arriving ship means late disembarkation. Do not list for a morning flight on turnaround day while storms are active.
- Text your sailing’s code to CRUISE (278473) for Carnival’s alerts. Each sailing has its own code.
- Shorter port hours and weather changes do not normally bring refunds. No interline or travel-industry rate changes were announced.
