October 12, 2026 — The SUD-Rail union is calling French rail workers out on Tuesday, October 13, alongside a national day of education protests. As of Monday afternoon, neither SNCF nor Paris transit operator RATP had published a traffic forecast.

Tuesday, October 13: rail strike call and protests

  • Who: SUD-Rail, France’s third-largest rail union, is backing the high-school, student and teacher mobilisation. The education union FSU has called all education staff out.
  • Scale: TBA. No SNCF or RATP traffic forecast had been published as of Monday afternoon.
  • Paris: A rally is planned at Place d’Italie; the march route had not been set. RATP has closed metro stations along protest routes in the past.
  • Possible further action: SUD-Rail mentions possible action on Saturday, October 17; no details yet.

Other disruptions in and around Paris

  • Paris tram lines T11 (heavily disrupted) and T14 (fully interrupted) are affected by a labor dispute until October 16.
  • Social-media calls for “yellow vest” style protests on Saturday, October 17, possibly targeting fuel stations, depots and refineries, were reported by Sortiraparis. No protest had been filed with Paris police as of October 12, and SNCF reported no strike notice for that day.
  • The aircrew strike notice for October 17–21 remains suspended, according to the cabin crew union SNPNC-FO, though the unions say action could resume if a promised government decree is not published.
  • Coming up: France’s main unions have called a national day of action on Thursday, November 5.

What it means for airline travelers

  • If you are connecting by TGV or Intercités on Tuesday, check SNCF Connect on Monday evening for the forecast and be ready to switch to an earlier or later train.
  • Going between the airports and central Paris, allow extra time and check RATP’s app for station closures near Place d’Italie.
  • If you plan to drive in France on October 17, fill up early in case fuel-station protests materialise.
