October 14, 2026 — Costa Cruises has dropped Leknes and Bodø from Costa Favolosa’s current Norway cruise because strong winds and rough seas were forecast in northern Norway. The ship headed south early and is spending extra time in Trondheim instead.

What happened

Costa Favolosa, carrying about 3,000 guests, left Hamburg, Germany, on October 5, 2026, on a 14-night Norway cruise due back in Hamburg on October 19. It had already called at Bergen, Narvik, Harstad and Hammerfest. On October 12 the captain told guests the ship would skip Gravdal (for Leknes) and Bodø and move south ahead of the weather.

Revised schedule

Date Original plan New plan
Oct 13 Gravdal (Leknes) Trondheim, arrive 9:00 p.m. (overnight)
Oct 14 Bodø Trondheim, depart 11:00 p.m.
Oct 15 Trondheim Sea day
Oct 16 — Haugesund, 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Oct 17 Haugesund Kristiansand (new port), 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Oct 18 Sea day Sea day (unchanged)
Oct 19 Hamburg Hamburg (unchanged)

Compensation

  • €100 onboard credit per guest, for up to two guests per cabin; usable for shops, spa, specialty dining and hotel service charges, with any unused balance refunded.
  • Costa excursions booked in Leknes or Bodø were cancelled and refunded automatically.
  • New excursions for Trondheim, Haugesund and Kristiansand went on sale on board from the morning of October 13.

What it means for airline travelers

  • The ship is still scheduled to return to Hamburg on October 19, so homeward flights from Hamburg should not need changing. If you are on standby out of Hamburg that day, have a backup flight listed in case the ship is delayed.
  • Autumn North Sea and Norwegian Sea weather can change port calls at short notice. If you are booked on a later Northern Europe sailing, leave yourself a buffer day at both ends of the trip.
  • Compensation for the missed ports is onboard credit and excursion refunds; no fare refund was mentioned.
  • No travel-industry or interline rate changes were mentioned.
