October 20, 2026 — Tauck is adding two more riverboats in 2027, Saudade on Portugal’s Douro and Reverie on the Seine, and will offer a new six-day river cruise format for travelers short on time. Chief executive Jennifer Tombaugh says the company’s river capacity is up 30% since 2025.

New boats

Riverboat River Debut
Lumière Rhône Spring 2026
Serene Seine Spring 2026
Saudade Douro (joins Andorinha) 2027 (date TBA)
Reverie Seine (sister to Serene) 2027 (date TBA)
Unnamed Rhône Planned for 2028

The additions raise Tauck’s capacity on French rivers by 50% and nearly double it on the Douro. Boats average 110 guests and none carries more than 130. About 80% of cabins on the two 2027 boats are 225 square feet or larger, with more suites in response to guest surveys. Tombaugh said the small scale is something Tauck is not “willing to compromise on at all.”

2027 program

  • 37 European river cruises in 2027, including six Tauck Bridges family departures.
  • A new six-day format on the Douro, Seine and Danube.
  • Roam by Tauck, the company’s new brand for travelers in their 40s and 50s with groups of 16, will debut with at least two river itineraries.
  • Lumière and Serene are designed to run on hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) where it is available.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Douro cruises typically begin and end in Porto (OPO); Seine cruises are usually based in Paris (CDG or ORY). Check your specific itinerary before booking flights.
  • The six-day format makes a river cruise easier to fit into a short block of days off, but leaves little slack: fly in a day early, especially when flying standby on transatlantic routes.
  • No travel-industry or interline rate changes were mentioned.
