October 20, 2026 — Corazul Cruceros, a new Spanish cruise brand, is preparing to start sailing in Brazil from late October with its first ship, Buenavista, and has outlined a relaxed, Portuguese-language onboard experience built for South American guests.

The ship and the season

  • Ship: Buenavista, built in 1995, carrying 1,806 passengers. It previously sailed for Astro Ocean Cruises as Piano Land and was handed to Corazul in late September 2026. It is repositioning from China to South America.
  • Homeports: Santos and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the 2026–27 season.
  • First sailing: late October 2026; exact date and itineraries TBA.

Onboard

  • A main theater, a second lounge, a disco, a sports bar, a casino, a cinema and two shopping areas. Youth facilities were recently upgraded.
  • Portuguese is the main onboard language and is required for guest-facing roles. Brazilian rules require at least 25% of crew to be hired locally.
  • Chief operating officer Camille Appeldoorn describes the style as laid-back and home-like, with entertainment continuing around the ship after the evening show.

What it means for airline travelers

  • For Santos sailings, São Paulo’s Guarulhos (GRU) and Congonhas (CGH) airports are the main gateways; allow for the road trip down to the port. For Rio sailings, use Galeão (GIG) or Santos Dumont (SDU).
  • This is a new line on a 31-year-old ship starting its first season, and exact sailing dates are not yet published. Confirm your departure date with the line before booking flights, and fly in a day early, especially if you are flying standby on long-haul routes to Brazil.
  • Check Brazil’s current entry requirements for your passport before you travel.
  • No travel-industry or interline rate programs were mentioned.
