October 24, 2026 — Carnival Cruise Line (Carnival Corporation) has put Carnival Luminosa, the 2,260-passenger ship built in 2009, into a drydock of nearly 30 days in Singapore.

How it got there and where it goes next

Stage Detail
Summer 2026 Alaska season
Late September 18 nights, San Francisco to Tokyo
October 14-night one-way cruise, Japan to Singapore (Kobe, Fukuoka, Seogwipo, Keelung, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City)
Drydock Singapore shipyard, about 30 days (exact dates and scope TBA)
Late November 2026 Repositions from Southeast Asia to Brisbane
Summer 2026–27 (Southern Hemisphere) 3- to 14-night cruises from Brisbane to New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga and more

Carnival has also said Luminosa will stop sailing seasonal Australian cruises from 2028.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Brisbane (BNE) is the homeport. Long-haul flights from North America can be full in the Australian summer, so if you are flying standby, go two or more days early.
  • Want a Luminosa cruise from Brisbane? Its Australian seasons end from 2028, so the chances to sail it there are limited.
  • No travel-industry or interline rates were mentioned.
