October 25, 2026 — Princess Cruises’ (Carnival Corporation & plc) Island Princess has reached the Western Mediterranean on its 50-night “Grand Mediterranean Odyssey,” a roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale.

The voyage

The 88,000-ton ship, built in 2003, left Fort Lauderdale in October 2026 (exact date not published) and called at Bermuda and the Azores before passing through the Strait of Gibraltar. The full voyage covers 24 ports in 10 countries and territories. Guests could also book 25-night segments between Fort Lauderdale and Piraeus (Athens).

Leg Ports Timing
Western Mediterranean Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Ajaccio, Portoferraio, Naples Under way now
Eastern Mediterranean Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Kusadasi, Dubrovnik, Kotor Late October to early November 2026
Homeward Gibraltar, Casablanca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, then Atlantic crossing November 2026
Return Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) Late November 2026 (exact date TBA)

What comes next for Island Princess

  • Caribbean and Bahamas cruises from Port Everglades after the ship returns (dates TBA).
  • From December 2026: 16-night Panama Canal cruises between Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale with a full canal transit, through late April 2027.
  • Summer 2027: 7-night Alaska cruises between Vancouver and Whittier, as one of eight Princess ships in Alaska.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Panama Canal sailings are one-way. You fly into one coast and home from the other: Fort Lauderdale (FLL, with Miami as a backup) and Los Angeles (LAX, with Long Beach as a backup). Price or plan both flights before you book.
  • Vancouver–Whittier Alaska cruises are also one-way. Whittier is reached through Anchorage (ANC), and summer flights from Anchorage fill up. Have a backup plan for the trip home.
  • Joining a 25-night segment in Piraeus means flying into Athens. Arrive a day early during the busy autumn season.
  • The report mentions no travel-industry or interline rates.
