October 25, 2026 — German line AIDA Cruises (Carnival Corporation & plc) will run its first world cruise from Warnemünde in 2028, aboard AIDAmar.

The voyage

Item Detail
Ship AIDAmar
Departs November 3, 2028, Warnemünde
Ends March 25, 2029, Hamburg
Length 142 days
Ports 51 in 19 countries on five continents, including 12 overnight stays
Fares from €20,995 per person, two sharing an inside cabin (includes €4,000 Early Bird Plus discount)

The route heads south via Isle of Portland, A Coruña and Gran Canaria to Brazil (Recife, Rio de Janeiro) and Buenos Aires, then rounds Cape Horn through the Patagonian fjords. From there it crosses the Pacific via Easter Island and French Polynesia (Christmas) to Suva, Fiji (New Year’s Eve). It continues to six New Zealand ports, including Milford Sound, and 11 Australian ports with overnights in Sydney, Darwin, Broome and Perth/Fremantle. The homeward leg runs via Mauritius, La Réunion, South Africa (Gqeberha, Cape Town), Walvis Bay and Cape Verde. The opening date for bookings was not stated (TBA). AIDA’s current world cruise left Hamburg on AIDAsol on October 18, 2026.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Warnemünde is the port for Rostock. Hamburg (HAM) and Berlin (BER) are the main gateways, connected to the port by rail. Rostock-Laage has only limited service.
  • The cruise ends in Hamburg, so you can fly home from HAM.
  • A 142-day voyage leaves no room for a missed departure. Fly in at least a day before November 3, 2028, and have a backup routing via another German hub, because early-November weather in northern Europe can disrupt flights.
  • No travel-industry or interline rate was mentioned.
