October 25, 2026 — German line Nicko Cruises has opened bookings for its summer 2028 ocean program on Vasco da Gama. The voyages run 13 to 23 days in Northern and Western Europe.

The program

Region Details Departures
Baltic Two 13-night voyages from Kiel calling in Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Poland and more; a third Baltic cruise calls at Gdańsk, Bornholm, Malmö and Copenhagen June, July and August 2028 (exact dates TBA)
Western Europe Three itineraries covering the British Isles, Spain’s Atlantic coast, the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal May, August and September 2028 (exact dates TBA)
Arctic 23-day voyage to Iceland, Spitsbergen and the North Cape TBA
Norwegian fjords Cruises from Kiel and Hamburg TBA

Managing Director Guido Laukamp presented the program at a digital press conference. Five Mediterranean cruises on Vasco da Gama will be announced in January 2027.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Most of these voyages start in Kiel or Hamburg. Hamburg Airport (HAM) is the gateway for both, and Kiel is about an hour or more from it by road or rail. Fly in the day before.
  • Summer flights to northern Germany get busy. Check flight loads early and have a backup routing through other German or Scandinavian hubs.
  • No travel-industry or interline rate was mentioned.
